AA: Aviões e Amor- on Planes & Passion

When I think of flying there are four songs that come across my mind, they are Learn to Fly by the Foo Fighters, I am like a bird by Nelly Furtado, Paper Aeroplanes by Angus & Julia Stone and our Italian Nel blu dipinto di blu ( Volare) by Domenico Modugno.

I have been flying lately for summer holidays and from the sky you can see, learn and understand many things, and fully grasp the meaning of the deep curiosity, will power and perseverance of the Wright brothers in the US for instance, inventors and aviation pioneers, the wright brotherswell-known for being credited with inventing and building the world’s first successful airplane and making the first controlled powered and sustained heavier-than-air human flight, on December 17th, 1903. I lately discovered also another aviation pioneer from Brazil, Mr. Alberto Santos Dumont when I was in Praça Santos Dumont or Praça do Avião  in the capital state of Goias, Goiânia Brazil. At the center of the plaza there is a statue of Santos Dumont and a big aircraft honoring this man who dedicated his life to aeronautical study and experimentation in Paris, where he spent most of his adult life.

Santos-Dumont santos dumontdesigned, built and flew the first practical dirigible, demonstrating that routine, controlled flight was possible. Following his pioneering work in airships, Santos-Dumont constructed a heavier-than-air aircraft, the 14-bis. On 23 October 1906 he flew this to make the first verified powered heavier-than-air flight, certified by the Aéro Club de France and the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI). in Brazil he is called the “father of flight”.

The conquer of the air and sky was a revolutionary discovery that allowed the movement of people, goods, commerce and international relations, diplomacy and trade. Without airplanes, we would not be so intertwined, interconnected, and the technology and innovation advancement helped in improving the mechanical process behind our final act of embarking for a flight, destination X.

sky is not the limit

Now there is a great exhibition at museum ABC in Madrid called passion for flying Pasión por volar, where Images of the first experience of flying are portrayed.

Our journey or flight can be real ( physical in movement and space) or with the imagination. I always hope that our imagination can be molded into something real and that we can touch and feel. I think this is the aim of life, to make our dreams and imagination come true. With Love & Passion for people and for the things we do in our regular days 🙂

Ciao and have a dreamful week ahead of you!
