Effervescent Beats & Visionary Energy – Life as a Movie Soundtrack

S. S. Rajamouli is the Movie Director of RRR, Rise, Roar, Revolt, whose song has been nominated at the 95th Academy Awards on 12th March 2023. I like the rhythm and the perfectly syncronized moves of the two protagonists, engaging the crowd in a dancing competition. They infuse adrenaline, a sensational willingess to move and dance with them. They are graceful and energetic, and our hearts beat faster. It feels like a joyous blast.

I love Indian cinema, and Bollywood movies, and I still recall the wondrous soundtrack of Slumdog Millionaire (2008) that made my heart and mind wander and imagine India. I enjoy the enthusiasm and the joy that brims out of me when i see people dancing, and also when i dance too. The beat pulsates through the body, the flying feet and the flashing eyes!

About filmmaking in general, i love the idea of making movies, and I think the best secret for a successful movie is the soundtrack that accompanies the motion pictures and the emotional, adventurous and action-oriented storyline.

The list of Nominees for Best Original Scores (songs) is long & of prolific artists & songwriters. My favorite are Lady Gaga – Hold my hand from the movie Top Gun Maverick and Naatu Naatu from the movie RRR. Larger than life!

The intercultural milkshake: fostering international dialogue and cross-cultural understanding

Today my friends and I gathered for BollyMadrid, the festival of India in Madrid, in the LavaEl batido intercultural_6 de Junio 2015 BollyMadrid 2015 India 007piés neighborhood, full of Indian restaurants and international people coming mostly from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. United by a passion for traveling ( we are called Los viajeros) and with the curiosity to discover other cultures, we met to walk around the main three plazas: Plaza de Lavapiés, Plaza de Agustin Lara y Plaza de la Corrala.

We tastedfood india some Indian food, including veggies samosa, mango lassi ( incredible yummy yogurt, with mango and milk, all fresh with ice cubes in a very warm weather it is perfect!) rice with curry sauces and veggies, and chicken tandoori.

Afterwards we dove into Bollywood dances, where professors were teaching both kids and adults the steps for a great dance in India, loving the upbeat music and the jumping part of it!

Dancing is an astonishing activity, that makes your body move and feel what is inside you. By dancing, we develop creative skills and we are more prone to social activities and to be with others, meeting and sharing with local communities. It is indeed a mean of social inclusion, of feeling part of the same society, and a powerful tool of understanding and integration.  Dancing also reduces stress levels and increases smiles and joy :-)

Here I found a Youtube list of Bollywood songs to plunge and relax for some time, and get inspired by the taste and sounds of this colorful country, full of diversity and contrasts, but for this reason worth visiting to see with our own eyes.

Have a marvelous Sunday and look forward to hearing from you soon on India!

Ciao!
